EDUCATION
A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, automation or process control engineering.
A 3-year college diploma in electrical engineering, electronics, instrumentation or mechatronics technology combined with relevant experience may also be considered.

EXPERIENCE
- Significant* and recent* experience in the maintenance, calibration, operation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic measurement instrumentation while working under pressure to provide rapid and robust solutions;
- Significant and recent experience in experimental measurement techniques and signal conditioning/processing;
- Significant and recent experience in the design, specification, and development of instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems hardware and software;
- Basic experience using laboratory programming languages (LabVIEW or similar) to develop custom software and integration of hardware and data acquisition systems; and
- Experience in supporting project planning including development of task lists, cost and time estimates. As well as providing status and schedule updates.
*Significant refers to between 2 and 6 years of experience and *recent refers to within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Senior Instrumentation Technologist to support the Propulsion and Power Laboratory (PROPEL) for the Aerospace Research Centre (ARC). The selected candidate would share our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The selected individual will work closely with a multidisciplinary team composed of Technical Officers, Research Council Officers and Research Officers within the Combustion Research Facility (CRF) group, Altitude Research Facility (ARF) group, and external clients.
The position requires an individual that can perform under pressure, have critical problem-solving skills and good process optimization competency. The individual must also possess the necessary technical skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain a state-of-the-art equipment in industrial settings. The individual will be required to support multiple facilities under different groups, as a result, good awareness of task prioritization and time management is necessary. During the test phase of projects, the position will require working long days and occasionally weekends.
Responsibilities include:
- Support or lead the installation, maintenance and operation of a variety of analytical instrumentation and equipment found in industrial-scale facilities;
- Execute the installation, repair, maintenance and calibration of critical and non-critical instruments following existing procedures and quality system work instructions based on the NRC Aerospace ISO-9001-2015; as well as, making continuous updates and improvements of said procedures;
- Support or lead in the design, development and assembly of laboratory and industrial devices, including the associated computer hardware / software, used for control and measurement;
- Generate electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams related to the measurement and control system following industry accepted practices and standards;
- Provide technical expertise for defining requirements, selecting, and purchasing scientific instrumentation, components and software.
In addition to technical duties, the incumbent will also be expected to follow all safety, environmental and regulatory rules applicable to the test facilities.
The position may assign duties, overseeing the work and mentoring of junior technical officers.
