The Quality Safety Security Assurance (QSSA) team sits within the Risk and Assurance Directorate which is part of General Counsel.
ABOUT YOU
This is an exciting and challenging role and we are looking for an individual with the technical expertise, sound judgement and inclusive leaderships skills to work with others. We are seeking a confident candidate, with a proven track record to lead, develop and motivate teams. You should understand and practice inclusive leadership within the team and across TfL, so that we can continue to be highly productive and effective.
You’ll have expert technical knowledge of audit principles and an understanding of TfL strategic objectives. With a proven track record of managing audits to time and quality. You’ll also be confident in applying quality management principles using ISO9001 and the management of health and safety using a risk based approach.
Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders is essential. You must have strong interpersonal and excellent written communication skills, an engaging style to work with complex senior stakeholders from a wide variety of technical backgrounds. You will be able to make sound decisions, balancing competing organisational requirements to achieve an optimal outcome.
You must be educated to Degree level or equivalent, hold a professional qualification in a relevant field e.g. HSE, Quality, Engineering or Auditing.

Responsibilities:
QSSA plays a crucial role in providing assurance to key internal stakeholders on asset quality, safety, health and environmental risk controls in operational and maintenance environments. The Senior QSS Assurance Manager role is essential in ensuring our team’s work addresses TfL’s strategic risks, is aligned to business needs and is delivered to the highest professional standards.
The Senior QSS Assurance Manager is accountable for the development and delivery of a portfolio of audit and consultancy assignments managed to time and quality criteria defined in the department’s professional standards and methodologies. You will lead a team of auditors, providing TfL Directors and Senior Managers with reports on the effectiveness of risk and governance controls and managing recommendations for improvement.
Engaging with stakeholders across TfL, you will ensure our audits will provide essential intelligence to risk or system owners and are compatible with local assurance activities by swiftly building an understanding of a business areas and identifying effective solutions. You will be working with audit action owners to ensure corrective and improvement actions are delivered on time.
Leading a team of professional auditors, you will ensure our working practices are efficient and effective; promoting the development and implementation of improvements to our procedures. This will include building capability with the team to facilitate the skills and knowledge required, applying the principles of continual improvement.
You will contribute to and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and data to inform risk management colleagues and improve local assurance regimes and management systems as required. Working in collaboration with risk owners and internal assurance teams, you will analyse findings to identify trends and improvement actions to be applied across TfL
