JOB SUMMARY

Mohawk College is undertaking a major digital transformation through the Banner Business Transformation Project, reimagining our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Banner and related processes, to enhance the student, faculty, and staff experience.
The Sr. Integrations Developer develops, supports, maintains, and implements enterprise system integrations and data exchange solutions. The incumbent will provide expertise in designing and developing integration architectures, APIs, middleware, and data flows that connect internal systems and third-party platforms within the College’s core enterprise application ecosystem. Emphasis is placed on reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability of integrations.
The incumbent must be proficient in developing integration solutions using a variety of current integration platforms, protocols, and technologies, including API gateways, message queues, ETL tools, and web services (REST/SOAP).
The incumbent collaborates closely with business stakeholders across the College, external vendors, and other partners to ensure integrations meet operational, security, and compliance standards. The incumbent will also act as a technical mentor within the Information Technology Services team, promoting integration best practices and guiding the adoption of modern integration patterns and tools.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • A minimum of three years of post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Relational database design, programming design and techniques, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in an Agile/ Scrum/DevOps environment with planning and executing project development tasks practicing scrum, Kanban, Jira and other relevant experience.
  • Over 5 years of hands-on experience in integration development using Java, Java EE, JavaScript, Spring, Python, Django, Angular, React, Node.js, and NoSQL technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in system architecture, enterprise-level application design, and ERP integration, with deep expertise in APIs, ETL processes, middleware, and integration patterns.
  • Proficient in HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript, with practical experience using modern JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, React, and Node.js.
  • Extensive experience with server-side languages including Python and Java, with a strong foundation in object-oriented programming principles.
  • Skilled in working with SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB databases.
  • Expert in Web Service Development and Integration using REST, SOAP, JMS messaging, and both Request/Reply and Publish/Subscribe models.
  • Strong knowledge of complex integration architecture and design, including Microservices Architecture and Azure Integration Services.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and event-driven architectures.
  • Proficient with testing tools like SOAP UI and Selenium, and container platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, and RedHat OpenShift.
  • Familiarity with the Ethos Platform, including Ethos Experience, Ethos Data Connect, and Ethos API Platform (considered an asset).
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
