SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR-PROJECT (8443) (TEMPORARY BANK) | TEMPORARY FOR 3 MONTHS | 37 HOURS PER WEEK | £38,626 PER ANNUM | (GRADE J) | COUNTY HALL, NORWICH (HYBRID)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Internal Auditor to join Norfolk Audit Services (NAS) for a three-month temporary contract . This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports Norfolk County Council and its external clients.
In this role, you’ll be expected to:
Plan and deliver risk-based audits across a range of services
Draft and review terms of reference, audit programmes, and reports
Provide clear, practical recommendations that improve systems and controls
Work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to ensure findings are understood and acted on
Support and review the work of junior team members when needed
You’ll report to the Senior Internal Audit Manager , and be part of a friendly, professional team that takes pride in delivering high-quality, independent assurance.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who have:
Proven experience in internal audit (public or private sector)
A good understanding of governance, risk and control principles
Ideally, experience working in local government or similar public bodies
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders
The ability to manage your own workload, work to deadlines, and stay solution-focused
This is a hybrid role , but we do ask that candidates are able to attend in-person meetings in Norwich when needed.
