POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Investment Analyst supports the investment team in evaluating, executing, and managing farmland and/or timberland investments across multiple regions in the U.S. Responsibilities include financial modeling, industry research, and other support of due diligence and asset management processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in farmland/forestland investment, environmental markets, real estate, private equity, commercial banking/lending, investment banking, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling for investment decision-making
  • Personal integrity, positive reputation for honesty and transparency, and commitment to excellence

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Passion for sustainable investments in agriculture, food systems, timberland, infrastructure, or related sectors
  • Technical training or practical experience in production agriculture, forestry, or nature-based climate mitigation
  • Familiarity with real assets, private markets investing, and commodity markets
  • Skilled in market research, analysis, and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively operate within a collaborative team environment
  • Detail-oriented, problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work in a small, growing firm, where employees contribute to overall firm success through special projects and tasks that may fall outside the scope of their primary role
    Location: This in-person role is based in Boulder County, Colorado. Office relocation is underway, with a final location expected in Louisville, Lafayette, or Boulder. Alder Point will not consider applicants seeking remote roles.

Responsibilities
  • Financial modeling, property valuation, and sensitivity analysis of potential farmland and timberland acquisitions
  • Conduct market and industry research on natural resource commodities
  • Assist in due diligence, including property rights and legal assessments
  • Maintain financial models and databases to track and improve investment performance
  • Assist in preparation of investment recommendations, financial statements, and investor reports
  • Support special projects, such as review of technology solutions for investment analysis and management, impact measurement, responses to client inquiries
  • This role will require 1-3 weeks of travel per quarter
