Description
Shape investment outcomes. Build capability. Grow with a high-performing team. Hybrid working • Purposeful impact • Continuous learning About Pendal Pendal is an active investment manager within the Perpetual Group, known for independent thinking and evidence-based investing. We combine deep fundamental insight with strong research and portfolio construction discipline, supported by a robust operational platform. Our culture rewards curiosity, ownership and smart decision-making in the pursuit of strong client outcomes. About the Role This role sits at the heart of Pendal’s Income & Fixed Interest team. You’ll work alongside senior portfolio managers on the ideas, models and workflows that drive our investment decisions, while also ensuring our portfolios run smoothly day-to-day. It’s a role for someone who enjoys understanding how things work and then making them work better. Someone who wants to blend research, data, coding, systems thinking and portfolio implementation into a single, high-impact seat. You’ll sharpen the tools and processes behind our investing, build new insights, and play a meaningful role in how we evolve our investment engine. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to deepen their markets expertise, broaden their skillset, and grow in an environment that values initiative and continuous improvement. What you’ll do Enhance the signals, models and frameworks that inform our investment decisions. Support daily portfolio activities so exposures remain accurate, intentional and well-managed. Help evolve the systems, tools and data infrastructure behind our investment process. Investigate and interpret market, model and performance patterns to generate insight. Contribute ideas that improve how we analyse opportunities, manage risk and implement views. Identify ways to streamline, automate or modernise workflows across the team. You will help to shape and improve out investment engine for what comes next. Who you are You’re curious about markets and enjoy solving ambiguous problems. You like understanding systems and improving them. You move comfortably between coding ( eg. Python, SQL, VBA or Similar), analysis and market thinking. You take ownership, follow through, and enjoy being trusted with meaningful work. You notice when something can be done better and take the initiative to fix it. You enjoy collaborating in a small, high-performing team where humility and accountability matter. You want your work to meaningfully influence investment outcomes — not stay behind the scenes. If you recognise yourself in these traits, you’ll thrive in this role. How we work Our unique culture is underpinned by our three organisational behaviours, Stretch, Own it, Make an impact which drive our approach of day-to-day interactions with colleagues and clients, the way we approach decision-making to the questions we ask and the problems we solve. Employee benefits Work from anywhere in Australia for up to one month each year An annual allowance to empower you to prioritise your personal wellbeing Study support and commitment to supporting professional development Diversity and inclusion Strong commitment to all aspects of Diversity and Inclusion through a robust 7 pillar strategy A growing number of employee-led networks who work to raise awareness and drive continued change We support over 50 First Nations Communities, helping to secure the communities' future. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated. In 1885, a committee of business and professional people, including future Prime Minister, the Honourable Sir Edmund Barton, gathered in Sydney for the purpose of forming a trustee company. Perpetual Trustee Company Limited was formed on 28 September 1886 and since then has been entrusted by generations of Australians to manage, grow and protect their wealth. Through wars, recessions and financial crises, we have continually evolved to meet the challenges of constant social, technological and economic change. Our core values and financial principles have endured through time and will continue to endure.
