Description

LOCATION: MUNICH, REGULAR TRAVEL REQUIRED

Drive strategic growth and transformative M&A across a world-class sustainability portfolio.
As Senior Investment Manager at Viessmann Generations Group, you will be at the forefront of strategic investment and portfolio expansion. This high-impact role combines end-to-end M&A execution with the opportunity to shape long-term value across a diverse set of mission-driven companies in the climate, water, and food sectors. If you’re an entrepreneurial investor looking to make meaningful contributions to businesses that matter - and to the future of our planet - this role puts you in the driver’s seat.

WHAT YOU BRING

You are a seasoned investment professional with a strong foundation in both deal execution and portfolio management. You’ve independently led multiple M&A transactions end-to-end - from sourcing and valuation to negotiation and closing - and can confidently speak to the number of deals you’ve owned as the accountable lead. Your experience goes beyond theory: you’ve been in the room making real decisions, taking responsibility, and driving outcomes.
Your background is firmly rooted on the buy-side, ideally within a corporate M&A team, private equity firm, family office, or entrepreneurial investment platform. This role requires more than financial modeling - we’re looking for someone who understands how to build, scale, and steer companies post-investment. Profiles with pure investment banking or advisory experience, without principal-side exposure, won’t be a fit here.
You bring a broad mental model and flexible approach to business types and founder or manager personalities. Our portfolio is diverse and you’re excited by the challenge of adapting your approach to different archetypes. You’re energized by a wide opportunity funnel, but also know when and how to zoom in with strategic clarity.
You are fluent in English and German (C1 level), a clear communicator, and a naturally curious thinker who combines humility, accountability, and hands-on drive. Most of all, you’re excited to invest not just capital - but yourself - in building businesses that make a lasting difference

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll have full-cycle ownership of M&A and strategic investment initiatives within a fast-evolving and diversified platform. You will lead the process from initial market research and thesis development all the way to closing and integration. This includes identifying high-potential targets, building business cases, conducting due diligence, and steering negotiations - often directly with founders, managers or family owners.
Your analytical toolkit will be fully activated as you assess risk and opportunity across different company profiles, construct valuation models, and synthesize insights from multiple stakeholders into clear recommendations. Just as importantly, you’ll work closely with portfolio company leaders - not only to support execution, but to serve as a trusted partner as they grow their businesses, pursue bolt-on acquisitions, or explore international expansion.
This is not a siloed role. You’ll collaborate across internal functions and investment clusters, working with Viessmann’s board members and the investment team to ensure alignment across all stages of the investment journey. Your ability to build strong, trusted relationships - both internally and externally - will be key to unlocking long-term value in a dynamic and mission-led environment.
