Description The Senior Investment Manager is responsible for advising and mentoring companies in the SC Launch pipeline and portfolio for company launch, investment, scaling, and growth within South Carolina. Scouts for prospective SC Launch Client Companies. Leads the due diligence process for assigned Client Companies, including the analysis and determination of technology viability, company management team strength, funding status, market potential, business model, strategies, and value proposition, with a focus on defining, preparing, and managing those Client Companies prioritized to present to the SC Launch, Inc. Board for investment, primarily for first tranche investments. Together with other members of the SC Launch team, determines which Client Companies to advance to the SC launch, Inc. Board for possible investment. This senior management role is focused on early-stage companies in the advanced manufacturing/materials, IT, and life science sectors. Works with other SCRA program divisions and operations in support of economic development in South Carolina through the growth of technology- based startups. Works closely and strategically with stakeholders, including academic institutions, industry, economic development organizations, investment partners, program financial donors, etc. Leads, participates in, and supports public and private vents associated with SC Launch clients and the SCRA mission. Requirements Leads SC Launch Inc. initial evaluations of candidate and client companies for SC Launch Inc. investments. Prepares client companies for presentation/pitch to SC Launch Inc. Board for potential investment. Leads client companies through diligence process for SC Launch Inc. program. Mentors and works as senior advisor to South Carolina-based entrepreneurs and startup companies. Represents the prioritized Client Companies to the SC Launch, Inc. Board both before and during SC Launch, Inc. Board meetings. Advises client company management in structuring investor presentations and related analyses while exploring proposed courses of action in meetings with clients. Develops and maintains ongoing trusted-partner relationships with assigned Client Companies during the multiple stages of Client Company growth. Cultivates a broad network of diverse resources and market opportunities to assist Client Companies. Identifies internal and external, in-state and out-of-state sources of funding for SC Launch companies. Periodically reports on important aspects of an assigned SC Launch Inc. Portfolio. Leads client companies, and participates in, post SC Launch inc. investment programs. Works with finance to assure that client companies are following SC Launch Inc. agreements. Works directly with the SCRA’s SC Academic Innovations and SC Industry Solutions. Ability to manage an Investment Associate as a direct report. Performs other duties as assigned as directed in fulfilling program objectives.
