Description

Join us in ensuring the digital future viability of the German Armed Forces.

As the German Armed Forces' primary digitalization partner, we provide stable, secure, and efficient IT services both domestically and internationally, from routine operations to operational deployments, thereby contributing to the continuous improvement of the German Armed Forces' command and control capabilities. With over 8,000 colleagues, we operate and modernize one of the largest and most complex IT infrastructures in Germany. We are looking for responsible IT specialists who are passionate about further developing the German Armed Forces' IT infrastructure through challenging digitalization projects and thus contributing to Germany's security.

In the field of Analytics & AI, we develop and operate the IT infrastructure for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) that is needed for the collection, analysis, aggregation, and utilization of data to achieve information dominance and superior decision-making speed in various operational areas. To this end, we develop innovative solutions for digital transformation for and with our client, the Bundeswehr. The focus is on solutions in the areas of data science and big data, as well as increasingly on the application of AI, particularly generative AI.

As Senior IT Architect, you will be responsible for strategic and technological developments in the Analytics & AI business area, which have a high impact on both the customer and BWI's business model.

Your tasks:

  • Responsibility for IT infrastructure planning in the areas of analytics, simulation and artificial intelligence.
  • Gathering requirements with the customer, the German Armed Forces, and deriving the technical requirements, as well as translating these into a solution design.
  • Development of technical concepts and test scenarios for holistic IT solutions (solutions)
  • Coordination with BWI Services, Portfolio Management and Enterprise Lead Architects of BWI regarding the necessary (further) development of service architectures
  • Creation and coordination of technical specifications, development of architectural designs and support of project cost calculations
  • Ensuring the integration of new solutions into existing system landscapes
  • Professional leadership of an interdisciplinary, cross-service team and participation in working groups with the German Armed Forces

Your profile:

  • A completed degree or comparable qualification in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience as an IT architect / technical IT consultant
  • Experience in IT architecture management in complex projects as well as cross-technology IT knowledge in the A&S sector (e.g. in the development and use of cloud architectures, big data technologies, artificial intelligence)
  • In-depth understanding of cloud and database architectures, data analytics, data engineering, foundation models, AI frameworks and libraries (e.g., RAG, AI frameworks (Keras, Langchain))
  • Experience in the field of information security and data protection
  • A high degree of responsibility as well as customer- and service-oriented thinking and action.

We offer:

  • Through diverse and socially relevant tasks, we ensure the smooth operation of IT and the digitalization of the German Armed Forces.
  • We are united by our goal. Respectful interaction and strong team spirit are essential to us in achieving it.
  • The salary ranges from €71,000 to €104,040. The actual amount will be determined based on your responsibilities, experience, and skills.
  • We offer 30 days of annual leave, 1 traditional holiday, plus options for individual adjustments.
  • Our benefits app provides a monthly credit and also allows you to secure tax breaks on public transport tickets.
  • We offer flexibility to reconcile work and private life, for example through mobile working or trust-based working hours.
  • We support professional and personal development through individual measures and free access to LinkedIn Learning.
  • Our company bike offer allows you to lease up to 2 bicycles.
