Position Summary
The Senior IT Business Analyst is primarily responsible for performing business analysis functions for the business and IT teams to ensure electronic service excellence across all business units. This role analyzes systems requirements and makes recommendations to ensure we meet internal and external client needs and government regulations.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team on a 1-year contract to cover a maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)
- Reviews and responds to inquiries from Clients, Brokerage Operations, Client Partnering and Information Technology. This includes answering questions regarding systems capabilities, government agency requirements, operational processes and client needs.
- Performs research and analysis to respond to inquiries. This can include analysis of software bugs, reviewing government initiatives and reviewing new client and/or operational requirements.
- Meets with various stakeholders in order to support work unit and company-wide objectives and to assist with solving various system related issues
- Identifies and communicates project requirements to stakeholders and Information Technology
- Determines and communicates solutions options
- Tests and documents solutions. This may involve determining testing scenarios to validate solution, identifying appropriate testers, conducting quality assurance or control testing, scheduling tests, results documentation, etc.
Education and Experience
- University degree or college diploma in business administration, computer studies or related fields
- More than 5 years experience in a Business Analyst or similar role
- Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)
- Team Leader/Management experience an asset
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/ (USCCS) designation an asset (must maintain during employment)
- Technical Customs Brokerage (i.e. rating/compliance) an asset
Competencies, Working Skills & Attributes
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and other standard business software programs
- Must have excellent research, problem-solving and analytical skills with a high attention to detail
- Clear and effective verbal and written communications skills
- Solid project and time management skills
- Ability to pivot and adapt to changing priorities
- Extensive user knowledge of internal systems and processes, as well as Customs Brokerage work process – an asset
Working Conditions, Mental Effort & Physical Requirements
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with no supervision
- Concentration is required in balancing several tasks at one time
- Research and analysis may be mentally tasking
- Must contend with time pressures and frequent interruptions that can lead to a moderate level of stress
- May be required to sit at desk for a prolonged period of time
- Repetitive keyboarding / mousing; often more than 6 hours per day
- Clean non-hazardous office conditions
- Occasional travel – generally no more than 1-2 times per month and usually within reasonable distance
