Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior IT Consultant / vCIO to act as both a trusted technical advisor and senior escalation resource for our clients. This individual will lead projects, design and implement IT solutions, consult with business leaders, and help the service desk resolve complex technical issues. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, and Windows Server environments, with proven experience in IT consulting or managed services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical consultant for assigned clients, building trusted relationships.
  • Conduct regular technology/business reviews (vCIO function), providing IT roadmaps and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of IT projects, including cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and virtualization deployments.
  • Provide escalated technical support for complex issues and serve as an escalation point for the service desk, mentoring junior engineers.
  • Onboard new clients onto our Armada management platform and ensure smooth service transitions.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on project scoping and solution design.
  • Ensure all time, work notes, and project updates are entered accurately and promptly, following established processes and documentation standards.
  • Develop and maintain client documentation, streamline processes, and leverage automation where possible.
  • Stay current on industry certifications, best practices, security protocols, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT experience, preferably within a Managed Service Provider.
  • Proven expertise in system configurations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow schedules, manage priorities, and adhere to process-driven service delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in business terms.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune/Endpoint Manager)
  • Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, identity management)
  • Windows Server administration and Active Directory
  • Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)
  • Networking (firewalls, switches, VPNs, routing, troubleshooting)
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, etc.) preferred.

Bonus Experience (Preferred)

  • Experience in a vCIO or IT consulting role.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based processes, time entry compliance, and structured service delivery.
  • Experience with ConnectWise Manage or similar PSA tools.
  • Knowledge of Sophos firewall and endpoint security.
  • Experience with MacOS in business environments.
  • Hands-on experience with backup/DR solutions (Datto, Veeam, etc.), cybersecurity tools, or VoIP systems.
  • Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Python, RMM automation).
  • Exposure to AI-driven IT tools and automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
