Description
We’re looking for a new team member: Senior IT Engineer! Are you the person others call when things break in weird, complex ways? Do you enjoy figuring out not just how to fix something, but why it broke in the first place? At Internetworks, we support and improve the systems our clients rely on every day. We’re looking for a Senior IT Engineer to join our team and take on high-impact technical work across service and infrastructure. What is a Senior IT Engineer? Think of this role as the highest level of technical support and escalation within the service team. You’ll handle complex issues that impact entire environments, guide technical decisions, and help ensure the systems we support are stable, secure, and well-designed. You won’t just resolve issues. You’ll identify root causes, recommend better approaches, and help prevent problems from happening again. In short: when it’s complex, high-impact, or unclear, it comes to you. What You’ll Do as Our Senior IT Engineer: Escalation Owner: Take ownership of complex issues escalated from Tier 2 and drive them through to resolution Root Cause Problem Solver: Investigate and resolve system-wide issues across servers, networking, cloud, and security Infrastructure Specialist: Support and improve environments across Microsoft 365, Azure, servers, networking, and security platforms Technical Leader: Mentor and support Tier 1, 1.5, and 2 team members Client-Facing Engineer: Communicate clearly with clients, including leadership, on complex issues and solutions Standards Contributor: Help define and improve technical standards, best practices, and internal processes Documentation Owner: Create clear, usable documentation for systems and solutions Project Contributor: Support technical execution of projects and deployments, working alongside project leads when needed Onsite & Remote Work: Respond to outages, perform onsite work when needed, and support critical environments Must-haves: 5–8+ years of experience in IT support, systems engineering, or similar role Strong experience across Microsoft environments (Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure) Solid networking knowledge including firewalls, switching, routing, and VPNs Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues Ability to take ownership and operate independently without constant direction Strong communication skills with both technical teams and client stakeholders High attention to detail and strong documentation habits Nice-to-haves: MSP experience Experience with Cisco / Meraki networking Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) Experience with security tools and incident response Experience with storage and backup systems Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, etc.) A Day in the Life at Internetworks: You might start your day reviewing escalations that require deeper investigation. From there, you could be troubleshooting a complex network issue, resolving a Microsoft 365 or Azure problem, or helping a teammate work through a challenging situation. You’ll also spend time mentoring others, documenting solutions, and improving how we approach technical work across the team. Some days are reactive. The best days are when you’re making things more stable and predictable. Why You’ll Love Working Here: At Internetworks, we care about doing great work and building a team that enjoys working together. From company camping trips and kombucha on tap to ongoing learning opportunities, we invest in both the work and the people doing it. Perks of the Job: Salary range: $110k – $130k DOE (with flexibility for exceptional candidates) Competitive bonus opportunities Industry-leading PTO Flexible medical, dental, and vision plans 401(k) with employer match Paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) Certification and continuing education support If you did a happy dance or got joyful goosebumps while reading this posting, it’s time to send your resume and cover letter! Your cover letter should include: A reference to the position of Senior IT Engineer A paragraph (or two) describing why you’re a strong fit for this role What to Expect from Our Hiring Process: A quick one-way interview where you'll answer a few pre-selected questions An in-person interview where we’ll evaluate your technical knowledge and problem-solving approach A criminal background check. Peaceful protests from your hippie days are totally cool; serious offenses are probably not cool; overthrowing the evil dictator of a developing nation? Probably cool.
