QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • A minimum of a level 8 degree (or equivalent) in IT, computing, or engineering.
  • Extensive experience in IT infrastructure management, cloud solutions, cybersecurity and ITIL frameworks and ISO certification.
  • Strong vendor management skills and experience in negotiation, procurement, and administration of SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
  • Demonstrable experience of database technologies (e.g. SQL, No SQL, Oracle or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience of virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware, Hypervisor, Nutanix or equivalent)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem resolution skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to deliver and write technical content clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrable experience of 24 x 7 x 365 real-time solution support
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a 1st, 2nd & 3rd line Helpdesk / ServiceDesk including issue, incident and service request management
  • Demonstrable experience in advanced cybersecurity environments (SOC, firewalls, Network Segmentation & Segregation, Zero Trust)
  • Experience in Windows AD (Active Directory), Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 355 Tenancy Administration (including Hybrid Exchange)
Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Senior IT Operations Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of IT systems, infrastructure, applications and Helpdesk, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves managing a team of IT professionals, collaborating with various departments, managing vendors and implementing advanced technologies to support the company’s strategic goals.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing insights and recommendations on IT operations and strategy.
  • Champion the adoption of innovative technologies and digital capabilities to meet current and future business needs.

IT Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
  • Implement and manage on-premises, cloud-based and SAAS solutions to enhance scalability and flexibility.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of IT systems through the implementation of best practices and compliance with industry standards.

Application and Database Support:

  • Manage the support and maintenance of business applications and integrated systems.
  • Perform database administration tasks, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
  • Collaborate with business functions to identify and implement application enhancements and updates.
  • Manage the Operation and Development of a Helpdesk for 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support for issues management and service requests

Business Intelligence and Management Reporting

  • Develop and manage key company performance reports using advanced data cleansing and visualisation techniques
  • Champion new technologies (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)
