Description:

MS Amlin Business Services (ABS) is seeking to align our newly introduced Product-Centric ways of working to our group customers through the introduction of a focused set of value-focused business services supporting our core insurance business processes. This senior leadership role requires a candidate demonstrating a proven track record of building exemplary relationships with senior business stakeholders and driving end-to-end delivery of reliable and trusted IT solutions
As the Senior IT Product Owner across a line of Underwriting and Claims (UW & C) IT Products, you will be accountable for engaging with senior Finance, Actuarial and Treasury business stakeholders to deeply understand their IT system requirements and take accountability for delivery against them.
This role is the primary point of contact for all UW & C application services to our customers. You are accountable for managing the engagement with our Legal Entity business stakeholders and delivering a high-performing Business Service. This role is required to support the development and performance of key UW & C Products that contain critical business applications that are used by our Legal Entity customers. Acting as a subject matter expert and working with your IT Product and Technical Service teams, you’ll govern and report on the Business Service performance, ensuring that the needs of the business and its users are met through high-quality service delivery
About The Job
What you’ll spend your time doing:
While there is rarely a ‘typical’ day here’s a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:

Customer Centric Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serving as the main engagement point for UW & C services to key Business stakeholders across the Legal Entities, ensuring alignment between business needs and service offerings.
  • Engaging with Business Stakeholders responsible for finance, actuarial, and treasury business areas to develop and maintain a deep understanding of your customers and their evolving needs – establishing a common understanding of priorities and expectations
  • Proactively assessing the service landscape for risks to delivery – service continuity and functional improvements – providing reasonable mitigations, aligning with your stakeholders on operational resilience requirements and business continuity plans

Management of Product-Orientated Service Delivery

  • Overseeing the development and deployment of the product backlogs, taking customer input to drive prioritisation
  • Overseeing the operational delivery of UW & C products, ensuring they meet or exceed SLAs and deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Coaching the UW & C IT Product Owners in maintaining a groomed, healthy backlog of changes, whilst highlighting and mitigating risks in time
  • Managing the definition of the end-to-end service such that all delivery partners operate to a contractual or OLA obligation to meet the agreed business outcomes
  • Reporting on and providing visibility of the iterative delivery of ‘plan’, ‘build’ and ‘change’ for the UW & C product scope
  • Ensuring skills and capabilities in place are in place to support the delivery of the UW & C product roadmaps

Collaboration with Technical Teams

  • Collaborating with technical teams and senior leadership to translate between technology and business requirements, ensuring successful communication and outcomes delivered
  • Working with technical infrastructure teams to drive service performance to the agreed service specifications (assuring Service Level Agreements), govern the implementation of change, establishing key metrics, through its lifecycle from idea through to release
  • Working with business stakeholders to clarify Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the service, establish financial forecasts and tracking overall spend to budget in partnership with Finance stakeholders
  • Managing external partners and suppliers to ensure they operate to contractual obligations to meet the agreed business outcomes

Strategic Direction and Guidance

  • Monitoring and reporting on the performance of UW & C services, implementing strategies for continuous improvement
  • Working with Enterprise Architecture, Business Owners, Product Teams and Technical Service Owners to agree strategy and roadmaps for the UW & C products
  • Managing service improvement through the chairing of key governance decision-making forums directly engaging business stakeholders in the evaluation, prioritisation and execution of improvement activities and projects
  • Clearly recording, maintaining and reporting on operational and change backlogs including establishing dashboards and metrics for product lines – on overall health of products across operational delivery and change

You’re going to enjoy this job if you also enjoy…

  • Being the trusted advisor and subject matter expert who drives technical solutions and services to address finance, actuarial and treasury business problems
  • Collaborating with both technical teams and non-technical business leaders to achieve business objectives
  • Balancing high-level strategy with the hands-on management of IT services and solutions
  • Problem-solving and finding new ways to improve service performance and user satisfaction
  • Leading change in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a customer-focussed mindset
  • Establishing relationships with business stakeholders to contribute directly to the success of technology-enabled business outcomes
