Job Description:
About the Role:
Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a qualified Senior IT Systems Technician I to provide internal Tier-2 desktop support for our facility in Boulder, Colorado. In this role, you will serve as a critical link between Tier-1 and Tier-3 IT teams, ensuring that internal IT issues are resolved in a timely manner. The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both technical teams and non-technical end users to clearly explain issues and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day technical support for over 80 users, including desktop systems, hardware, software, networking, and basic server/storage infrastructure
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows XP, 7, 10, and 11 operating systems, smartphones, and network devices in a mixed-platform environment
• Manage user and computer accounts in Active Directory
• Perform Windows imaging for hardware replacements and new deployments
• Analyze, install, and support Microsoft products, various security tools, and other supported applications
• Troubleshoot basic Unix/Linux issues
• Assist in the standardization of IT support processes, procedures, and policies
• Contribute to the development of IT infrastructure and support projects
• Provide remote support to home-based users as needed
• Travel to other Microchip facilities in North America may be required

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IT support role
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Proficient with Windows 10/11, Active Directory, and Microsoft O365
• Experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple support requests in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Comfortable working within a multi-tiered support structure
• U.S. Citizenship Required

Preferred Skills/Certifications:

• ITIL Foundation (V3 or V4) certification
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification
• Experience with engineering lab support
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
• Previous experience at Microchip or other enterprise manufacturing desktop support environment

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $64,480 - $128,000.*

• Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
