Job Title: Senior IT Technician
Location: Manchester, M1 7EW (Hybrid – 1 day in office per week + site visits as required)
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Travel: Across Northern sites (expenses paid)
Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Mon–Fri (no on-call; overtime paid when required)

We are now looking for a Senior IT Technician to join our internal IT team in Manchester. You will work closely with our Tech Support Lead and Technical Manager to deliver projects, provide high-quality support, and play a key role in building the next stage of our IT function.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on IT support experience (ideally 2nd line+).
  • Solid experience with Windows OS, Google Workspace, and ticketing systems.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, MDM tools (Intune desirable), and endpoint setups.
  • Good knowledge of hardware setup and troubleshooting, including peripherals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support non-technical users.
  • Customer-focused, personable, and able to build positive relationships across teams.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (travel fully expensed).

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This role offers a varied and challenging mix of responsibilities, balancing day-to-day support with hands-on project work. You will take ownership of technical projects such as new site installations, hardware rollouts, and software deployments, while also ensuring our staff across the UK have a reliable, responsive IT experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver IT support via phone, email, video, remote access, and on-site visits.
  • Manage and resolve tickets through the IT Service Desk, escalating where appropriate.
  • Support users across Windows OS and Google Workspace.
  • Build, configure, and deploy laptops for staff and exam centres.
  • Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and onboarding.
  • Support and troubleshoot networked devices (laptops, printers, mobile devices).
  • Assist with CRM platforms and MDM tools; lead on upcoming Intune MDM migration project.
  • Deliver IT inductions and training for new starters, including remote sessions.
  • Create and deliver user-friendly training resources (guides, videos, knowledge base articles).
  • Travel across Northern centres for site setup and technical installs (e.g. networks, CCTV, laptops).
  • Support IT infrastructure projects in collaboration with the Tech Support Lead and Technical Manager.
