We are seeking a highly experienced Full Stack Java Developer with a heavier focus on Back-end at the Senior level to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, with extensive experience in modern web technologies and frameworks.

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Java developer your responsibilities will be:
1. Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
2. Lead the development and deployment of applications using Docker and container orchestration.
3. Implement and manage messaging frameworks, including Kafka, for real-time data processing.
4. Utilize AWS services for deploying and managing cloud-based applications.
5. Develop and execute unit tests using Junit to ensure code quality and reliability.
6. Create and maintain API documentation with Swagger.
7. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.
8. Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
10. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
11. Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex web applications.
12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
13. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
14. Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

Qualifications (REQUIRED):

• Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (Alternate locations: Moncton, Fredericton, Stratford or St. John’s)
• Hybrid: 2-3 days required in office weekly

1. 10+ years of software development experience
2. Strong experience with Java 11/17 and its core concepts (Streams, Lambda, Exception Handling, Multithreading, DataSource).
3. Hands on experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, ORM (Hibernate, Mybatis), REST API, Webservices, JMS and Kafka.
4. Experience working with SQL/PLSQL.
5. Experience with unit test frameworks like Mockito, Junit.
6. Exposure to CI/CD and AWS Cloud Infrastructure / Services.
7. Exposure to Karate/Cypress Test Automation is a plus.
8. Passionate about engineering excellence and a knack for writing clean, testable, readable, and easily maintainable code.
9. Understand how to operate in an Agile environment and to deliver using an acceptance test driven development (ATDD) approach
10. Committed to collaboration and open communication in your work
11. Experience in Finance domain is a plus
12. Knowledge of DevOps, Automated Testing and Continuous Delivery
13. Familiarity with common collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Jira, Confluence, and Git, GitHub.
14. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
15. Strong communication skills (technical descriptions and diagramming, escalation, written, in-person, adaptive as appropriate to the audience, etc.).
16. Willingness to own, research, and argue your points of view, bring new ideas to the table, but deliver according to consensus and expectations.
    Required Level of Education (include certifications):
17. University or Technical Diploma in IT discipline with equivalent experience.
18. Formal Java Developer Certification will be nice to have.
19. Formal Certification with Azure or AWS will be nice to have.
