This is the job We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of a leading automotive finance platform. The project focuses on the client's internal systems, with the core product being a Loan Origination System (LOS) that helps customers finance or refinance vehicle purchases by connecting them with the most suitable lending options. The platform supports a broad ecosystem of integrations, including lenders, third-party vendors, accounting, document management, calling systems, and employee access management. As part of an international engineering team working closely with colleagues in the US, you'll help modernize the platform by building new services, improving existing integrations, and gradually migrating functionality from legacy Java-based systems to a modern architecture. This is you 5+ years of experience as a Java Software Engineer building enterprise applications. Strong hands-on experience with modern Java (Java 17+; experience with Java 21/25 is a plus) and Spring Boot. Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate (myBatis is a plus). Experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs. Experience integrating with third-party systems using REST, SOAP, XML, and JSON. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS, Cognito, and CloudWatch. Experience with Docker and build tools such as Gradle (Maven is a plus). Familiarity with logging and observability tools such as OpenTelemetry and Sumo Logic. Comfortable working in a Kanban environment with regular code reviews. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset. English — Upper-Intermediate or higher. Nice-to-have skills: Experience maintaining and modernizing legacy Java applications (Java 8, Dropwizard). Experience with myBatis. Background in financial services, lending, or loan origination systems. Experience participating in large-scale migration or modernization projects. This is your role Design, develop, and maintain new features for the modern Loan Origination System. Build and improve integrations with lenders and third-party platforms. Support and maintain legacy services while functionality is being migrated to the new platform. Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code. Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices. Collaborate closely with US-based and distributed engineering teams within a Kanban workflow. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver scalable, reliable solutions. Take ownership of technical initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform.
