YOUR MISSION

As a Senior Java Fullstack Developer (m/f/d), you will support a major project within the central IT initiatives of the German tax administration. The focus is on a process that manages the overarching business processes between various specialized applications.

Your tasks

• Conceptualization, modeling and implementation of business processes using BPMN (Camunda) – from requirements gathering to technical implementation
• Development and enhancement of high-performance backend components based on Java (17/21) and Spring Boot to support complex, cross-process business processes
• Design and implementation of interfaces (REST, SOAP, messaging) including coordination with adjacent systems and teams
• Development of technical solution designs for cross-system process flows and their integration into existing architectures
• Active participation in the transformation and processing of large data sets within distributed system landscapes.
• Coordination with project stakeholders and participation in exchange formats – predominantly remote, with occasional on-site meetings (approx. 1x per month in Kaarst)
• Creation, execution and documentation of developer and integration tests to ensure software quality
• Maintenance, servicing and continuous optimization of existing software components during operation
• Creation of technical documentation (e.g. interface descriptions, installation and operating manuals)

THIS IS IMPORTANT TO US

• At least 7 years of practical experience in developing backend applications with Java, as well as sound knowledge of modern frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot.
• Excellent experience in the development of distributed systems and microservice architectures, including confident handling of interface technologies (REST, SOAP, Messaging)
• Practical experience with BPMN and workflow engines (especially Camunda) as well as a good understanding of modeling business processes.
• Solid knowledge of databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA
• Experience working with Linux systems and basic shell scripting skills
• Confident use of common development and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Gradle, Jira, Confluence)
• A structured, solution-oriented approach to work, as well as the ability to present complex technical concepts in an understandable way.
• Experience in the public sector or in the context of large, distributed IT system landscapes is an advantage.
• Excellent German skills, both spoken and written (C1 level)
