The team is also tackling a major modernisation programme, rethinking parts of a legacy PHP platform and re architecting older systems into modern, scalable services.

What You’ll Work On

• Build and evolve high-traffic Java, Spring Boot and MySQL backend systems.
• Work across the flight search, pricing and booking journey.
• Design and implement new backend features, APIs, unit testing and system improvements.
• Help rethink and re architect legacy systems, turning older PHP-based functionality into modern software.
• Contribute to architecture, design patterns and shared services across multiple products.
• Work closely with engineering and product teams to solve complex problems and improve the customer journey.
• Use GitLab CI for CI/CD automation and ArgoCD for deployment of modern stacks.

What They’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience building production-scale Java applications.
• Deep knowledge of Java, Spring Boot and MySQL.
• Experience designing distributed backend systems, APIs and scalable architectures.
• Someone who is a builder and problem solver, not simply an executor of predefined designs.
• Strong ownership — able to identify a problem, design a solution, deliver it and measure its impact.
• Experience contributing to architecture and technical design.
• A genuine desire to improve systems, challenge existing approaches and move things forward.

Nice to Have

• PHP experience — particularly working with or modernising legacy PHP systems.
• Node.js, MongoDB, Kafka or React.
• Travel, transport, flights or booking-domain experience.
• Experience with modern CI/CD and cloud-native deployment practices
