JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-scale web applications. You’ll work on high-traffic systems using Java 8 on IBM WebSphere and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions. This person will work closely with our business analysts and internal business stakeholders to understand their key business drivers and data needs, and scope out scalable and suitable solutions that will help our customers with the information needed for planning, analysis, and decision-making.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
• 7+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of enterprise Java 8 web development in high-volume environments
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript
• Hands-on experience with Sencha JS or similar rich UI frameworks
• Solid understanding of RESTful web services and API design
• Familiarity with relational databases, primarily Oracle, with MS SQL and Snowflake
• Experience with version control systems (Git using Bitbucket)
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Proficiency with the latest Java LTS versions (Java 17+) and migration from Java 8
• Experience building back-end API services with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience developing application components in a Healthcare Service Organization or Health Insurance Industry - Highly desired
• Knowledge and experience connecting with APIs of
• Familiarity with build and dependency tools (Maven, Gradle)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Working knowledge of additional front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Thymeleaf)
• Highly proficient at Unit Testing code, to ensure a bug-free handoff to the QA Team
• Effective decision-making skills and strong business judgment
• Effectively communicate in English, both oral and written, with vendors and employees at all levels of the organization to ensure questions and concerns are processed promptly
• Helpful, knowledgeable, and polite while maintaining a positive attitude
• Interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of communication mediums
• Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
• Ability to multitask with attention to detail and follow-through on commitments

• Architect, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications using Java 8
• Build responsive user interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as Sencha JS
• Design and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring security and performance at scale
• Collaborate with product owners, QA engineers, and DevOps to deliver quality end-to-end solutions
• Conduct and participate in code reviews, promoting best practices and clean code
• Assist in defining software development project plans; scoping, scheduling, providing time estimates for programming tasks, and implementation plans and schedules
• Develop technical documentation to define the system components, development environment, and implementation planning/strategies.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement lasting fixes
