The Team – your impact
The chapter Technology & Engineering - Platform Engineering represents all experts who deliver DevOps capabilities to all our product teams. These experts are organized together to enhance those functional skillsets, improve E.ON’s DevOps tech stack and deliver a high level of cloud automation.
The managed Kubernetes service team operates a large-scale Kubernetes platform with approximately 500 clusters across major cloud providers, primarily Azure and expanding into AWS. The team embraces a DevOps culture where “you build it, you run it,” fostering strong team autonomy, agile practices, and a commitment to quality through testing and focusing on GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.

Your Role – meaningful & rewarding

  • Oversee the operation and scaling of our extensive Kubernetes environment across multiple cloud platforms
  • Manage cloud resources using Crossplane, writing and maintaining resource definitions and compositions
  • Develop and maintain GitOps workflows using ArgoCD, Helm, and Kustomize
  • Write and enforce Kubernetes policies using Kubewarden with Go
  • Implement automated testing strategies, including TDD and BDD practices
  • Manage error budgets for features and system “illities” (e.g., scalability, reliability)
  • Implement and manage Cilium CNI and mesh networking for advanced networking and future failover capabilities
  • Utilize Bash scripting and Go for automation within GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Your Profile – authentic & open-minded

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in software development, DevOps, and SRE practices
  • In-deep knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem, including experience with Crossplane, ArgoCD, Helm and Kustomize
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD
  • Strong testing skills, including automated testing, TDD, and BDD
  • Experience using Kubewarden, Cilium CNI and mesh networking.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities as well as excellent problem-solving abilities
