The Opportunity Due to retirement and promotion, we are looking for an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Nelson Team – in this role you will be supervising the daily operation of the laboratory to help deliver work for customers safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standard. You will also be responsible for the effective daily operations and management of the lab resources and staffing. Your responsibilities include: Maintain confidentiality on all analysis and testing undertaken and held by the laboratory Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of quality problems within testing Conduct laboratory machinery checks Ensure the maintenance of all equipment including calibration Remain up to date with current pavement design, pavement delivery and pavement product technologies Provide analysis of results for relevant focus area to client Provide laboratory staff support, motivation and guidance Develop test methods and apply existing appropriate international and local methodology The testing and reporting of all required materials in accordance with the Fulton Hogan lab IANZ requirement Undertaking safe work practices at all times Flexibility with work hours as the role includes night shifts, weekends and some travel The ideal candidate will have the following attributes: Trade qualification in materials testing or similar Safety-related certification Asphalt production principals and practical applications (mix designs) Competent understanding of material properties Minimum 1 year lab experience • Strong communication skills, crucial for results reporting and client interaction • Can do and a positive attitude • Ability to see the big picture and coordinate team efforts What’s in it for you At Fulton Hogan we truly care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools they need to succeed.
