POSITION DESCRIPTION

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Health Professional (Senior Medical Scientist) to join our laboratory in St Leonards. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of pathology laboratory operations, good organisational skills, dedication to planning and problem solving and a flexible approach to the work environment. You will be an essential team member, and your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Participating in multiple disciplines, including Biochemistry, Blood Bank, Haematology, Coagulation and Microbiology
  • Performing diagnostic testing and reporting in a timely manner
  • Performing routine checks, maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment

IDEAL CANDIDATE

We have a supportive learning environment, and full training will be provided. We are looking for the following:

  • A relevant medical science degree/qualification or recognised AIMS equivalent
  • Minimum 2–5 years’ full-time practical experience performing diagnostic testing in laboratory disciplines, such as Blood Bank, Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation and Morphology.
  • The ability to work part-time to full-time hours across a 24/7 roster, including the flexibility to work overnight, weekend and public holidays, as required
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and quality requirements
  • Venepuncture experience would be advantageous
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a team player and can work independently
  • A hard-working, motivated and reliable individual with strong communication skills and work ethic
