As a Laboratory Technician (laborant), you will be part of an enabler team that delivers analytical results, develops new assays on liquid handlers, and supports the training of new users in the Production Strain Technology laboratories in Bagsværd. Welcome to Production Strain Technology in Enzyme, Protein, and Strain Engineering Research In Enzyme, Protein and Strain Engineering Research, we engineer industrial microbes to bring biological solutions to our customers' toughest challenges in areas such as biofuels, agriculture, and food & beverage. Using state-of-the-art genetic engineering and fermentation technologies, we develop high-performing production strains for industrial biotechnology. You will join the Automation & Analytics team in the Production Strain Automation & Analytics department within the Production Strain Technology area. Here, we develop and operate laboratory automation solutions used to build, test, and understand the performance of bacterial and fungal production strains across low-, medium-, and high-throughput workflows. The department consists of 8 scientists and 7 laboratory technicians located in Bagsværd and Lyngby. In this role, you will join a high-functioning, fast-paced team of two experienced lab technicians and one scientist. In this role you’ll make an impact by: Ensuring rapid, high-quality data delivery by evaluating strain and process performance through the daily operation of analytical platforms, including Hamilton liquid handlers and Gallery analyzer instruments. Developing new enzymatic assays and implementing them on automated liquid handler platforms. Supporting and training users of automated assay systems in the Production Strain Technology laboratories. Working closely with scientists and technicians to operate and continuously improve automated analytical workflows. Laboratory technicians work in a highly collaborative environment where team members share tasks and continuously learn new techniques through training and knowledge sharing. There is strong emphasis on teamwork, open communication, and supporting each other to deliver high-quality results while maintaining balanced workloads and a positive working environment. To succeed you must hold: an education as research associate (laborant), or a relevant BSc-level education experience with running screening and analytical methods such as enzymatic assays and protein quantification experience working with automated liquid handlers – preferably Hamilton liquid handlers (Venus software) and Gallery analyzer instruments experience with basic data manipulation tools (Excel, Python) and documenting work in electronic laboratory notebooks (Benchling or similar) the ability to work as a team player with a collaborative mindset while also working independently with a high degree of transparency the ability to thrive with both routine analyses and the development of new methods the ability to work comfortably in a multicultural environment where English is the common language Application deadline: 6th of April 2026. Responsibilities
The role involves ensuring rapid, high-quality data delivery by operating analytical platforms like Hamilton liquid handlers and Gallery analyzers, and developing and implementing new enzymatic assays on automated liquid handler platforms. Additionally, the technician will support and train users of automated assay systems within the Production Strain Technology laboratories.
