JOB DESCRIPTION

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and licensed Senior Landscape Architect with experience leading complex landscape architecture projects to join our growing Urbanism + Planning (U+P) studio in the Denver, CO office. The Rocky Mountain Region U+P studio is an integral component of the overall Buildings + Places practice and is focused on leading or supporting a mix of public and private sector projects including federal, state, municipal, institutional, and transportation/transit related infrastructure.

SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

We are seeking a high-performing individual with expertise in managing projects, staff, and teams with demonstrated technical ability in all aspects of site design and landscape architecture, including successfully managing projects from conceptual design through completion of construction documents and construction phase services. The candidate should be efficient in production of design graphics, construction drawings, and design and planning related presentations and reports. The position provides exposure to all aspects and phases of the firm’s planning and landscape architectural practice, including communicating with internal and external clients.

You must be self-motivated with the desire and ability to lead others in the design and technical documentation process, as well as passionate about engaging and retaining clients. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve in a leadership capacity pursuing and implementing work through exceptional design, planning, project documentation, business development, and/or project management.
  • Provide landscape architecture, planning and project management services to a wide variety of private and public clients.
  • Perform lead designer/planner or project manager role on projects of various scales.
  • Support other project managers or designer/planners on large, complex projects.
  • Contribute to AECOM’s “think and act globally” philosophy by creating a culture of innovation and collaboration.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program or related degree plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Landscaped Architect
  • Candidates with a master’s degree or dual degrees in both landscape architecture and urban design or planning are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience leading complex landscape architecture projects.
  • Licensed Landscape Architect in Colorado and other western states is preferred.
  • Experience practicing landscape architecture and urban design in Colorado and for federal, state or municipal clients, as well as institutional, higher ed and transportation entities. Experience with CDOT infrastructure projects and/or USACE projects is highly desired.
  • Experience in strategic business development, client interviews and relationship building, and driving sales and revenue. Knowledge of the marketplace and industry trends in Colorado, with regional or national reach is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of code requirements and the planning and design process, from conceptual thinking through detailed design, construction documentation, and construction phase services.
  • Experience interfacing with project delivery teams on scope of work development, budget and schedule, and client satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil3D, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office is required, as is the demonstrated ability to mentor staff in all programs. Familiarity with additional software packages such as Land F/X, Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation/ORD, Rhino, ArcGIS and other spatial analysis tools, and other 3D modeling and rendering software is highly desired.
  • Experience producing technical specifications.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze design problems, and communicate effectively.
  • Well-organized with attention to scheduling requirements, as well as an ability to plan and organize multiple projects and work with other multi-discipline team members; effective time management is an inherent trait expected of all candidates.
