THE REQUIREMENTS

A current practising certificate (or ability to obtain one) and a current (minimum) NV1 security clearance experience is essential.
Legal qualifications and experience in regulation, administrative decision making or legal policy is required.

THE ROLE

We currently have a secondment opportunity within a high profile Commonwealth Department based in Canberra that is seeking a Senior Lawyer with significant experience in legal policy and/or in a regulatory role as well as senior management experience in a Commonwealth setting.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Commonwealth clients’ in-house legal team. High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas.

The successful candidate will support the team’s regulatory work including:

• assist manage workflows;
• address current backlogs by triaging and processing notifications;
• completing reviews and assessments;
• documenting and implementing processes; and
• preparing and/or clearing guidance and training material.
