DESCRIPTION
Are you a skilled and experienced RVT ready to take your career to the next level? This position is ideal for a motivated technician looking to take on a leadership role—combining hands-on patient care with team coordination, mentorship, and clinic operations oversight. If you’re passionate about veterinary medicine, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy mentoring others, we want to hear from you.
At Birchwood Veterinary Clinic, we pride ourselves on being more than just a workplace—we’re a supportive, tight-knit team that values kindness, communication, and collaboration. As the Senior Lead Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a vital role not only in clinical care but in shaping and maintaining our positive, family-oriented culture. You’ll work closely with veterinarians to support patient assessments, treatments, and diagnostics, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep and assistance, radiology, dental procedures, and lab work. Your advanced technical skills and attention to detail will help ensure every patient receives the highest level of care, while your contributions to accurate record-keeping and efficient use of software will help keep our operations running smoothly.
Leadership is central to this role. You’ll guide and mentor junior staff through training and support, foster respectful teamwork, and help maintain a clinic culture that is inclusive. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing daily workflow, assisting with staff scheduling, inventory management, and contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical protocols.
Candidates must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing within their province, with at least five years of clinical experience, including one to two years in a senior or supervisory role. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential. The ability to lift up to 40 lbs, work on your feet, and assist during occasional evening or weekend shifts is required. Additional certifications, such as Fear-Free or experience in specialty areas, are considered assets.
If you’re looking to join a clinic where your leadership, compassion, and skills truly make a difference—and where you’re supported by a team that feels like family—Birchwood Veterinary Clinic is the place for you.
