What’s the job?
Reporting to the Program Director for Physical Health, the Senior Learning Facilitator/ Lecturer is primarily a teaching role, however responsibilities include coordinating the quality delivery of academic subjects or programs, and leading specialist academic projects. It may also require the individual to contribute to the institution through research, industry engagement and mentoring other academic staff.
We are looking a passionate, experienced, and qualified health profession to join our Faculty of Health Sciences teaching in our Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy) and aligned programs. Successful candidates will have extensive musculoskeletal pain and injury management experience in an allied health discipline such as myotherapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy or similar.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, delivering and assessing subjects as allocated. Lecturers work to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. Senior lecturers drive course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities and are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours.

Day-to-day accountabilities:

  • Deliver lectures, seminars, workshops/practical sessions and tutorials, both online and on campus using innovative learning and teaching practices
  • Coordinates a range of subjects, driving quality initiatives and course review strategy
  • Mentoring and support to casual academic staff
  • Prepare, review and update teaching in response to quality measures
  • Draft, review and update assessment tools, set and mark assessments and examination papers where needed
  • Conduct student assessment and ensure academic processes are adhered to
  • Assess student submissions throughout the study period providing good quality feedback in keeping with policy
  • Determine the final result for each student and submit the results to the Program Director in the required format by the results deadline in preparation for the exam committee
  • Participate in validation and moderation activities as requested by the Program Director
  • Identify students who are at risk of failing a subject, whether for personal or academic reasons, and make the appropriate referral to Program Director, Success Coach, Language/Academic Skills support staff

This is a permanent position (0.7 FTE to full time hours to be negotiated), based at our Melbourne campus, with flexible working from home opportunities.

Who you are?

  • Preference for a PhD or equivalent or evidence of substantial educational or discipline leadership - Masters with significant industry experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in student-centred higher education teaching and the ability to work within a professional and motivated academic team
  • Experience in an allied health discipline (i.e. Myotherapy, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Pain Management, or equivalent)
  • Membership of a relevant professional association
  • Additional qualification or professional development in Learning & Teaching preferred
  • Sound understanding of current scholarship and/or professional practice in the discipline area
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to the academic and administrative environment of the faculty
  • Have the ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced Higher Education institution
  • Awareness and understanding of the relevant TEQSA standards, National Code 2007 & ESOS;
