We are seeking a dynamic Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing to join our academic team at Buckinghamshire New University. Based primarily at Uxbridge, with teaching across additional campuses, you will deliver an outstanding student experience through innovative, inclusive teaching, curriculum development, and academic support.
You will lead and contribute to impactful research, enterprise, and knowledge exchange activities, supporting the University’s strategic goals and the Research Excellence Framework (REF). The role also involves personal tutoring, placement supervision, academic assessment, and engagement with external partners to enhance professional practice.
Applicants must be active Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registrants and will require an enhanced DBS check. This role embodies BNU’s commitment to academic excellence, inclusion, and community impact through education and research.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing
Faculty/Directorate: Nursing and Midwifery
Grade: H
Location: Based at Uxbridge as appropriate, with travel to other campuses High Wycombe and Aylesbury when required.
Hours: 37hrs
Responsible to: A member of the schools Senior Leadership Group

RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE:

  • Evidence as an active researcher and delivery of high-quality research and scholarship. Conduct effective research and scholarly activity, generate income, and align own research with teaching and learning to generate excelled student outcomes.
  • Collaborate and engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • Supervising research students to completion. Engage in effective doctoral supervision and develop early career research.
  • Contribution to subject association; learning society or professional body. Embed research within teaching and curriculum and contribute to research impact and student outcomes.
  • Contribute to the leadership of an inclusive and interdisciplinary research culture.
  • Peer review and undertaking collaborative research related activity in partnership with other HEIs, external partners, communities, professional bodies and/or employers.
  • Sustained contribution in research active communities.
  • Strong track record of research outputs (including REFable work as appropriate). Significantly contribute to the REF and KEF and to internal and external research and enterprise strategies.
