Overview: Full-time, Continuing position Salary Academic Level B ($115,303 -$136,925 p.a.) or Level C ($141,247 - $162,872 p.a.) + 17% Superannuation Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University About the Roles Join RMIT’s School of Engineering and help drive innovation in the fast-evolving field of Emerging Technologies in Environmental Engineering. This role is open at either Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) level, depending on your experience and research achievements. You will play a pivotal role in advancing teaching, research, and industry collaboration in areas that address global environmental challenges through technological innovation. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: Circular Economy and Waste Management Water Security and Treatment Technologies Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Sustainable Transportation Solutions Smart Environmental Monitoring Key Responsibilities As a Lecturer (Level B), you will: Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including course design, assessment, and ongoing enhancement based on student feedback. Contribute to curriculum innovation that reflects emerging technologies and industry needs. Conduct independent and collaborative research, publishing in high-quality outlets and contributing to the School’s strategic research focus. Supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and support their academic growth. Build and maintain effective partnerships with industry, government, and professional bodies. Participate in academic administration, such as course coordination or small program management. As a Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will also: Provide academic leadership in teaching, curriculum design, and learning innovation. Lead high-impact research projects and multidisciplinary teams, securing external funding and delivering tangible outcomes. Mentor academic staff and HDR candidates, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Manage programs or research initiatives, ensuring effective governance, reporting, and budget oversight. Strengthen RMIT’s national and international profile by developing partnerships that translate research into real-world solutions. About You You are a driven academic who brings both technical expertise and collaborative leadership in Emerging Technologies in Environmental Engineering. You will have: Demonstrated research excellence in one or more of the following: Circular Economy and Waste Management Water Security and Treatment Technologies Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Sustainable Transportation Solutions Smart Environmental Monitoring Proven experience in designing and delivering engaging, student-centred teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online and blended delivery. A growing (Level B) or established (Level C) track record of research outputs, industry collaboration, and external funding success. Strong supervision capability with Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and a commitment to developing future researchers. Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to contribute to a collegial, inclusive academic community. (For Level C) National recognition for research leadership, including success in securing competitive research grants, mentoring early-career academics, and leading multidisciplinary projects. About the RMIT School of Engineering The School of Engineering is one of the largest Engineering Schools in Australia. It has over 350 staff and 7000 students, including 750 HDR students. This will include reimaging our teaching laboratories, where we will use new digital technologies to enhance the student experience, as well as research labs where partnerships with industry will enable us to maintain leading research facilities. The STEM College is also developing plans for a large new building in the Melbourne City Campus, and the School of Engineering is expected to hold significant space in this new building. RMIT is a global university, and the School of Engineering has students and research partners across South East Asia and Europe. This includes two campuses in Vietnam, as well as partnerships in Hong Kong, Singapore and we recently entered into a partnership with the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India. The School also has a research centre in Barcelona, which provides access to European funding and industry partners.
