Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE

The Senior Lecturer in Paramedicine will play a pivotal role in shaping our research strategy and strengthening research capabilities across undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, in preparation for the launch of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedicine in 2027. Working collaboratively within a team of dedicated paramedicine educators, the incumbent will lead impactful and initiative research that advance the discipline of Paramedicine.
In addition, the Senior Lecturer will provide academic leadership to ensure the effective delivery of the Bachelor of Paramedicine program, including the design, review, and implementation of high-quality teaching, simulation, and learning content using innovative and evidence-based approaches. The role also involves active engagement in scholarly teaching practice, including the evaluation and continuous improvement of teaching quality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position reports to and operates under the broad direction of the Head of Program: Allied Health and functions within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the University.
The successful candidate will assume a key leadership role in building research capacity and fostering research engagement within the Bachelor of Paramedicine and the broader paramedicine discipline. The role will also contribute to the design and delivery of a research-informed curriculum, aligned with the VU Block Model pedagogy, and promote excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship.
The appointee must demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving academic environment and respond effectively to ongoing institutional and discipline-specific changes.
The position is primarily based at the St Albans Campus.

An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:

  • Work with other staff in the College including (but not limited to) the Course Chair to foster collaborations, and build research capacity and industry engagement in Paramedicine;
  • Prepare and deliver all teaching materials required for block workshop, practical classes, and simulations using innovative approaches that are fit-for-purpose within the VU block model;
  • Supervise HDR students;
  • Consult with and provide advice, support, and feedback to students
