Part time (0.5 FTE), continuing position for a senior Lecturer (Teaching & Research) Opportunity to significantly contribute to the leadership and strategic direction of the Sydney Medical School Base Salary starting from level C ($156,103 - $179,998) pro rata + 17% superannuation + clinical loading About the opportunity The Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) operates across four Health Precincts, including the Baluderri (Western Precinct), and comprises seven academic schools, including Sydney Medical School (SMS). Formed in 1856, SMS is Australia’s oldest medical school, educating around 1200 students in a four-year graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine program, alongside a range of higher degrees by research and coursework. The Central Clinical School (CCS), based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, promotes interdisciplinary teaching and research in collaboration with University, Local Health District, and Private practice staff. This 0.5 FTE role supports the CCS Office and Head of Clinical School academically, contributing to the school’s vibrant teaching and research environment. Your key responsibilities will be provide leadership in the development, implementation, and promotion of clinical/education programs for MD students at Central Clinical School and at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital act as Student Support lead, to facilitate guidance to medical students to undertake their degree, including those who need additional academic review and support facilitate Affiliate application assessment and processes directed to the Clinical School help oversee strategic planning and financial management including budgets, operations improvement, and health system development and management provide clinical care as part of the health care team, in relevant areas of medicine including in actively contributing to all department activities, e.g. quality and safety and service improvement collaborate with Sydney Primary Health Network, the Sydney Clinical School of General Practice and across other divisions and departments to develop annual and long-term plans for improving health care quality, safety, process improvement and value promote a culture that is collaborative, team oriented, and one that respects the skill sets and opinions of all faculty and staff. About you Senior lecturer – Level C are a medical practitioner registered in NSW (or eligible to be registered) who has a part time salaried role at a Local Health District holds fellowship of an Australasian medical specialist college as recognised by Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency (AHPRA), e.g. FANZCA, FRACP, FRACS, FRANZCP, FACEM, FRANZCOG, FRACGP (all levels); has a PhD in a related field or related higher qualification have a current clinical appointment in Sydney LHD, preferably at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and/or Chris O’Brien Life house has experience in teaching and learning of medical practitioners or students (Level B), including demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives understands and can support academic endeavors from curriculum design to producing leading research demonstrates the pursuit of academic research of national and international significance (e.g. in education research or a specific discipline) with a developed network of relationships with academic, consumer / advocacy, industry and / or professional organisations, partners, and stakeholders. has an affinity with students and can offer them a supportive learning environment.
