We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced HCPC-registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our growing academic team within the School of Health & Wellbeing at the University of Worcester. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the development of our new BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice programme, including both the traditional and apprenticeship pathways, in the role of Course Leader. You will play a key part in advancing perioperative education and supporting workforce transformation.
Depending on skills and experience, the successful candidate will be appointed as either a Senior Lecturer (Teaching) & Course Leader or a Principal Lecturer (Teaching) & Course Leader. At Principal Lecturer level, the postholder will also provide academic leadership to the ODP team and the wider department of Allied Health.

Responsibilities
  • Develop BSc and apprenticeship curriculum, lead and manage the ODP subject area, including day-to-day operations and quality assurance.
  • Design, deliver and assess high-quality, innovative teaching and learning materials, including blended learning approaches.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and contribute to assessment processes.
  • Act as Personal Academic Tutor and support student development.
  • Engage with recruitment and selection activities.
  • Undertake academic administrative responsibilities and contribute to School and University committees.
  • Participate in scholarly activity, CPD, and professional development.
  • Promote inter-professional learning and collaboration across the School.
  • Ensure inclusive, sustainable, and safe teaching practices.
We are looking for a forward-thinking individual who is passionate about Operation Department Practice education. You will have a strong understanding of the current healthcare landscape, including the integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence, and be committed to preparing students for modern clinical practice.
