SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT – CORPORATE / COMMERCIAL
MacGregor/Lawyers (Mary MacGregor Law Corporation) is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Legal Assistant (Corporate/Commercial) to join our team. This role involves overseeing various administrative duties within the realm of corporate management and commercial transactions. This position collaborates closely with lawyers and fellow assistants, ensuring the seamless execution of assignments and upholding the firm’s standards of excellence.

- Dependable and skilled in the areas of accuracy, confidentiality, time management and organization.
- Corporate, commercial transaction, and/or real estate experience.
- Familiarity with and completing trust accounting on files is an asset.
Prioritized Experience
- Substantial knowledge of solicitor practice areas with experience in document drafting and abilities to identify general legal issues
- Strong technical skills with experience working with related online tools such as BC Online, BC Registry Services, Societies Online, LTSA, Unity, ALF, Worldox, and Microsoft suite of programs.
- Proven skills in corporate records management. Additional knowledge with commercial transactions and/or real estate is an asset.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal Program with a minimum of five years proven experience OR a combination of education and experience.
Mary MacGregor Law offers work-life balance, a competitive salary and benefits package. Located on-site, in person in downtown Kamloops, this full-time professional office position offers working hours, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 pm, with some flexibility. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
As a Senior Legal Assistant specializing in Corporate/Commercial at our firm, you will:
- Administer files, from open to close, supporting the requirements of the lawyers, cooperating with other staff, ensuring follow-up, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Coordinate and facilitate document preparation including preparing drafts of legal documents and key correspondence.
- Review and proofread documents/correspondence ensuring accuracy, alignment with procedures and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and files for all client files and communicate with clients on file matters including coordinating appointments.
- Make electronic inquiries and document filings with agencies such as BC Online, BC Registry Services, Societies Online and Land Title and Survey Authority (LTSA).
- Perform trust fund accounting duties on assigned files.
- Prioritize and diarize workflow to ensure completion of accurate work to meet external and internal deadlines.
- Receive incoming communication, mail and other material and coordinate the flow of information internally as needed.
- Preparing client reporting packages and client billing.
- Collaborate and work with the Legal Assistant Team to develop consistent processes and procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the work to be completed.
- Other related duties as required.
