Senior Legal Counsel – Africa & Middle East (AME) Position Overview Barrick Mining Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join the Africa & Middle East (AME) Regional Legal team. This role will provide senior-level legal support across a broad range of matters, including corporate and commercial matters, contracts, regulatory matters, M&A work as well as other matters ancillary to mining. The role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with local legislation, including evolving local content requirements, while supporting the business in managing legal risk and enabling operational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities •    Provide strategic legal advice to the AME operations teams as well as management on a wide range of matters, including corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, to support effective decision making and risk management. •    Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across AME, including new and evolving local content legislation. •    Support the structuring, negotiation, and drafting of commercial agreements, including supply contracts, tenders, shareholder agreements and joint venture arrangements. •    Advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management across the operations. •    Partner with business leaders to proactively identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies. •    Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in the operating jurisdictions and the broader AME region, assessing potential business impacts. •    Develop and implement internal policies, procedures, and training to strengthen legal and compliance frameworks. •    Manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring effective delivery and cost management. •    Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legal team members where applicable. Qualification Requirements •    Qualified Lawyer with admission in a common law jurisdiction (additional civil law admission or experience is a plus) Experience and Skills Requirements •    Minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience. •    Strong experience in corporate and commercial. •    Experience supporting operations in the mining, natural resources, or similar sectors is advantageous. •    Experience working in or supporting emerging markets, preferably within Africa or the Middle East is a plus. •    Prior experience in the mining, natural resources, or energy sector is a plus.  •    Experience in civil law systems is a plus.  •    Proven ability to operate at a senior level, providing strategic and commercially focused legal advice. •    Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. •    Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical capabilities. •    Commercially astute with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives. •    High level of integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism. •    Ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional matters. •    Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels. •    Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. •    Willingness to travel within the AME region as required. •    Ability to work effectively across cultures and in remote operational environments.
