Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Senior Legal Counsel role plays a critical part in ensuring AMP Bank operates within its defined risk appetite and regulatory obligations. By combining legal expertise with commercial insight, the role supports informed decision-making that enables the Bank to operate safely while delivering value to customers.
As part of AMP’s Legal team, this role contributes to a collaborative, outcomes-driven environment by being both embedded in the business and independently minded.
Success is achieved through proactive integration with AMP Bank teams, ensuring legal advice is practical, executable and aligned with the strategic direction of the digital bank. At the same time, the role maintains constructive independence leveraging excellent relationships to provide thoughtful challenge and ensuring legal considerations are embedded in business decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Previous experience working in a heavily regulated industry, ideally in banking services
  • Ideally at least 8 years post qualified experience gained in private practice and/or in house
  • In depth understanding of the obligations applicable to ADIs and related risks
