Description

Join our Corporate Legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2026. This role offers flexibility, with the option to work full-time or part-time (29 hours per week).

ABOUT US

Our 2.4 million members trust us to take care of over $330 billion in retirement savings. And we help them take charge of their finances and face the future with confidence. Our inclusive culture means you’ll be valued and heard in a respectful workplace. We’ve created an environment where you can be yourself and do amazing work. It’s that simple.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will support the legal workstreams associated with the implementation of APRA’s Prudential Standard CPS 230 - Operational Risk Management. You will work with other teams and stakeholders across Australian Retirement Trust (ART) to ensure ART’s compliance with CPS 230.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on obligations arising under CPS 230, to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and manage legal risk.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents, particularly those involving material service providers and outsourcing arrangements.
  • Advise on internal governance frameworks, risk policies and procedures to align with CPS 230 requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Manage external legal engagements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
  • Share legal knowledge proactively within the team and across the broader business where relevant.
  • Promote a strong risk culture, focusing on legal and reputational risk management.

We have office locations in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth but we would be happy to consider candidates in other locations across Australia.
