THE POSITION

Are you looking for a new challenge in managing high stakes disputes and using sophisticated discovery systems and processes at an international level? Dispute resolution work is uniquely interesting because it involves a blend of problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills across borders and jurisdictions. It is a chance to delve into complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions, international arbitration and risk management, develop early case-assessments, advise on risk mitigation and find creative approaches to amicable and sustainable solutions. The skills gained in dispute resolution, such as active listening, empathy and negotiation, are valuable in many other aspects of life and career. Individuals are challenged to think critically, communicate effectively and work collaboratively towards finding mutually beneficial outcomes.
This position has a hybrid setup with minimum 2 days per week on site.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully qualified and admitted lawyer, with several years of relevant legal experience in a law office or the industry, ideally in the pharmaceutical or chemical sector
  • Legal background in dispute resolution with experience in litigation and arbitration, and with U.S. style discovery and related legal topics, including EU data privacy
  • Team-orientation, confidence in dealing with outside counsel and internal colleagues and managers, as well as profound communication and conflict management skills
  • Technical affinity and willingness to travel would be an assetExcellent German and English skills in speaking and writing

Responsibilities
  • You will work on a variety of disputes involving litigation, arbitration and governmental investigations and collaborate extensively with internal and external stakeholders. This will involve detailed fact-finding, identifying and managing witnesses within and outside the company in a multitude of jurisdictions, selecting and leading external counsel and preparing regular reports on case status, litigation strategy and resolution approaches.
  • A special focus of the role is to lead and manage corporate eDiscovery, particularly for U.S., U.K. and Canada matters. Specifically, you will be responsible for the company’s eDiscovery program and strategy globally; in this role, you will work closely with other Legal colleagues, maintain a strong interface with Information Governance, IT and Data Privacy officers and manage a variety of eDiscovery and forensic technology vendors.You will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of tools, processes and templates with respect to all of the above topics, you will train internal stakeholders and business partners, and work with the relevant outside counsel and vendor network.
