Job Description Hassell, a leading global design practice, is looking for a Legal Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal support across the Hassell group. Working closely with our Company Secretary / General Counsel, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to broaden your experience across a diverse range of legal, commercial and project-related matters within a collaborative and supportive environment. This opportunity will suit a lawyer with 4+ years’ post-admission experience, ideally gained at a well-regarded Australian law firm, and with exposure to clients in the construction, consultancy or built environment sectors. About the role As Senior Legal Counsel, you will support the business on a wide range of matters, with a strong focus on drafting, reviewing and negotiating key agreements, including: consultancy and sub-consultancy agreements confidentiality agreements and NDAs project contracts and service agreements deeds of novation certificates joint venture agreements premises lease agreements supplier agreements You will also: Support and mentor a team member provide legal research and advice on a range of issues across Australian and international operations identify and report legal risks in a timely and practical way maintain records of material agreements advise on legal developments and their impact on the business support project teams with legal advice on claims, disputes and debt recovery assist with a variety of broader legal and commercial matters as required Qualifications About you You will bring: Qualified lawyer with a current Australian Legal Practice Certificate 4 + years’ post-admission experience Experience gained in a well-regarded Australian law firm is strongly preferred Experience advising clients in the construction, infrastructure, engineering, professional services or built environment sectors will be highly regarded Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders Proactive, collaborative and able to manage competing priorities effectively Sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to risk Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality and professional integrity Why join Hassell?
