ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Legal Counsel - Investments (Mid Risk) you will be a trusted adviser and business partner in relation to investment matters, providing specialist, solutions-focused legal advice and services. You will be part of the legal team with a primary focus on advising the Mid Risk team in the Investments Business Area. The role is responsible for assisting Australian Retirement Trust (ART) in meeting its legal, regulatory and compliance obligations.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Provide timely, accurate and commercially appropriate legal advice on investment related activities.
  • Lead the review and assessment of on complex investment related documentation and investment structures arising from the Mid Risk team, such as Investment Management Agreements, Limited Partnership Agreements, Unit Trusts, Shareholders Agreement, Sale and Purchase Agreements, Bid documentation etc for investments within Australia and offshore.
  • Provide expert advice in relation to management of litigation and disputes arising from investments in the Mid Risk team.
  • Proactively develop additional compliance and other internal policies, due diligence processes as required.
  • Provide legal and regulatory compliance with SPS 231 and CPS 230 for Investment Management Agreements and Funds of One.
  • Remain current with changes in legislation and best practice particularly as it impacts investment activities in the Mid Risk team.
  • Maintain document records for investment activities in the relevant document management systems.
  • Collaborate and develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure advice is provided having regard to the strategic goals of ART
