Join our dynamic legal team as a Legal Counsel and play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's legal landscape while protecting our business interests! What will you do: Reviewing contracts, tenders, vendor and reseller agreements in relation to the full breadth and depth of the business (for hardware, software and services) in the concerned area, proposing a clear and strong legal strategy, amendments and highlighting and advising on and proposing solutions in relation to contractual issues, legal and commercial risks to the business engagement teams. Negotiating with counterparties as required. Ensuring compliance with all relevant Schneider Electric’s policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulation (including, for example, fair trading, anti-fraud and corruption, editorial, ethical and environmental, etc.). Management of pre-litigation situations and ensures the management of disputes and litigation by overseeing the interface between lawyers and business teams. Conducting legal training for the business and delivery teams, including the preparation of training materials. Rendering legal advice to corporate functions and business units. Other duties – reviewing policies and processes of legal function, collating and analyzing data, preparing reports and policy papers for the general improvement of the legal function and processes, supporting HR and Compliance team. All necessary reporting and liaison with parent company for above responsibilities, including periodic litigation reporting. Any other function as assigned from time to time. High degree of professional ethics and integrity. Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation in order to deliver sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information. Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies. General Counsel - East Asia & Japan What qualifications will make you successful for this role? A good master’s degree in law from Japan. A master’s degree from either UK/US University would be a plus. 8 - 10 years PQE, with relevant in-house experience as a Legal Counsel in an international industrial company, exposed to international environment. Excellent drafting skills. Interested in negotiating contracts, notably in a project-based environment. Detailed understanding of contract, commercial and intellectual property law, and interest in software subject matters. Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework in the concerned area.
