SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL – WITH FOCUS ON MEDIA, TV & STREAMING

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Content team and to be a part of the wider Corporate Affairs community which provides an opportunity to build a strong internal network. In this senior position, you will have the benefits of working across multiple markets, handling high-profile partnerships with major industry players like Netflix, Viaplay, TV4, Disney and WarnerBrosDiscovery.
You’ll support Telia’s TV & Streaming business in all countries, primarily focusing on Sweden, and work closely with senior stakeholders to drive strategic partnerships, commercial development and content distribution. A passion for TV, streaming and the media industry, along with strong negotiation skills, is essential. This role also offers the potential to lead our legal agenda with content & media partners.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We seek a trusted and solution-oriented legal professional with strategic and analytical thinking, strong negotiation skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines. You have excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, collaborate effectively across business functions and provide pragmatic, actionable legal advice at all levels. A positive, can-do attitude and ability to navigate complex challenges are key to success in this role.

Professional experience:

• Masters of Laws (LL.M)
• 5-10 years of experience in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, with a specific focus on media (experience in TV distribution/partnerships is a plus)
• Experience from the Nordic TV, Media and/or Streaming business is a strong advantage
• Strong background in addressing legal issues in the media or IP rights market
• Proficiency in Swedish and English communication skills

As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll draft and negotiate distribution and partnership agreements with major industry players like Netflix, Viaplay, TV4, WarnerBrosDiscovery and Disney, as well as platform agreements with partners such as Samsung. You’ll provide legal support to business units (primary focus on Sweden), advising on regulatory matters, content usage and technical developments. You will also contribute to strategic TV projects, new business models and piracy-related issues. Additionally, engage with government consultations, collecting societies and participate in industry forums.
