ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Legal Counsel - Workplaces, you will be a trusted advisor who provides solutions-focused, commercial legal advice to stakeholders across the business of Australian Retirement Trust (ART). You will provide legal advice and services across all ART products, services, procurement, technology, intellectual property, insurance, dispute resolution, contract drafting and negotiation as well as corporate transactions, having regard to the strategic goals of ART.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Provide corporate legal advice across a full spectrum of legal issues in order to support the activities of, ensure compliance with legal/regulatory obligations (including disclosure obligations) by and manage legal risk for ART.
  • Provide advice and expertise on the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of agreements, contracts and other legal documents and superannuation/insurance product terms and condition to ensure the legal rights of ART are protected.
  • Manage costs and engagement of external legal to ensure cost-effective and accurate legal advice.
  • Mentoring/supervising lawyers within the Corporate Legal team.
  • Remain current with changes in legislation and best practice particularly as it impacts core superannuation business (SIS and Corporations Act) by conducting research, interpretation and training.
  • Collaborate and develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure advice is provided having regard to the strategic goals of ART.
  • Build strategic alliances and partnerships inside and outside of the organisation to create opportunities to execute business strategy through existing and new capabilities.
