SENIOR LEVEL DEVOPS ENGINEER

Location: Lorton, VA (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site)
Clearance Required: Active Top-Secret with ability to obtain SCI and CI Polygraph
Compensation Range: $210,000 – $260,000 (annualized USD)

DESCRIPTION:

Join a mission-driven team as a Senior Level DevOps Engineer, supporting a highly technical program with both cloud and on-premises environments. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and infrastructure automation solutions.
This hybrid position places you in close collaboration with developers, operations teams, and mission stakeholders to ensure rapid, reliable, and secure delivery of software products. The role offers the opportunity to drive DevOps best practices, mentor junior engineers, and directly impact the speed and quality of mission capabilities.
While the position is hybrid with two days per week on-site in Lorton, VA, there will be occasional multi-day on-site workshops throughout the year for intensive collaboration.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred) OR 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in DevOps or software development, with substantial experience designing and implementing DevOps solutions.
  • Expertise with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD automation (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, Atlassian Bamboo).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, Amazon ECS).
  • Skilled in monitoring and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Scripting and development experience with:
  • Python (pipenv, pex, or similar packaging tools)
  • C/C++ (cmake, Makefiles, debugging)
  • PostgreSQL or similar database development experience
