JOB TITLE: Senior Line Leader - Mission Produce UK
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
LOCATION: Mission Produce UK LTD, Dartford, Kent (on-site)

Job Summary Delivery of daily packing plan ensuring all orders are packed efficiently and to customer specification within agreed time restraints and KPIs. Lead the daily production line productivity and control resources by removing /adding required labour in line with fluctuating packing volume.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 years experience working within a production facility would be beneficial, but suitable equivalent qualifications/skills are welcomed.
  • Ability to effectively train and mentor others
  • Proven experience working as a production line leader/production supervisor would be beneficial
  • Technical capability and understanding of food safety and customer specifications
  • Quality control experience
  • Understanding of fresh produce quality expectations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of cross-functional team members and employees of varying skill levels.
  • Competent in problem-solving
  • Understanding of ERP systems such as SAP, Fresh ware , D365

Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise and motivate the production team to ensure that daily production targets are met.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to enhance their performance and productivity.
  • Ensuring that for their area risk assessments, regular inspections and audits are carried out.
  • Ensuring that the operations under their control are, as far as is reasonably practicable, conducted without detriment to the health and safety of employees or others who may be affected by their activities.
  • Ensuring that the Safety Management System is effectively implemented within their areas of responsibility.
  • Implement and maintain workplace precautions suitable to the working environment and as identified in risk assessments.
  • Ensuring that all accidents, incidents and near misses reported to them are documented and investigated correctly.
  • Support new team members through the induction processes and provide suitable training to ensure successful onboarding and integration into the team
  • Monitor the progress of new employees throughout the training and probation period, providing constructive feedback and support as needed.
  • Provide required levels of information, supervision and support to employees in their area.
  • Provide the production team with feedback on performance including successes and failure of plans or precautions.
  • Effective communication via emails with the different departments and areas of the business.
  • Maintaining safety discipline within their area of responsibility and ensuring effective communication through their departments of Health & Safety activities.
  • Ensuring that any remedial actions that are beyond their scope of authorization are brought to the attention of their immediate superior.
  • Review the production schedule with a planner to establish priorities
  • Develop inventory control techniques to avoid shortages and excesses
  • Run production lines while also ensuring that all start-up checks, label checks and other applicable internal procedures have been completed for all lines
  • Pack the orders following the specific customer requirements
  • Spot check to ensure correct packaging and labels are being used on all lines
  • Review production run rates and report to the manager/planner if any issues
  • Review daily KPIs and report back on issues or positive results from the previous shift
  • Lead, develop and coach production line leaders and operatives
  • Cover label room operation (ie label printing functions) when necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company objectives, production strategies and support activities
  • Ensure all information for packing jobs is kept up to date
