Description Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is seeking a Senior Linux DevOps Engineer to support mission-critical systems within a classified environment. This role is designing, automating, securing, and sustaining hybrid Linux and Windows infrastructure supporting naval operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep Linux expertise, strong DevSecOps experience, and a security-first mindset capable of operating in highly regulated DoD environments. This role is 100% onsite. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: Linux Systems Engineering: • Engineer, harden, and maintain enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, or equivalent). • Implement and maintain DISA STIG-compliant configurations. • Perform system lifecycle management, patching, and vulnerability remediation. • Support identity integration (LDAP, Kerberos, AD integration). • Troubleshoot system, kernel, and performance-level issues. DevSecOps & Automation: • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent. • Integrate Linux systems into CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows. • Support containerized workloads using Podman, Docker, or Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms. • Contribute to secure image development aligned with hardened baselines. • Automate system provisioning, configuration management, and compliance validation. • Support integration with security scanning platforms and vulnerability management tools. Cloud & SWAN Integration: • Support IL5/IL6 cloud-hosted Linux environments where applicable. • Ensure secure connectivity and segmentation within classified enclaves. • Collaborate with Windows and cloud engineers to ensure hybrid environment interoperability. • Participate in architecture reviews to ensure secure-by-design implementations. Security & Compliance: • Ensure compliance with RMF controls and NIST 800-53 security requirements. • Support vulnerability scanning (ACAS/SCAP) and remediation activities. • Maintain documentation including system diagrams, SOPs, and configuration baselines. • Contribute to ATO sustainment and continuous monitoring activities. Requirements Clearance: Secret Certification (IAM Level II) One of the following: Security+ CySA+ CCNA Security GSECSSCP Required Skills: • 10+ years of Linux systems engineering experience. • Demonstrated experience in DevOps or DevSecOps environments. • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python required). • Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Podman, or Docker). • Experience operating in DoD or classified environments. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in SWAN or similarly restricted classified enclaves. • Experience supporting IL5/IL6 cloud platforms (Azure Gov, AWS GovCloud). • Familiarity with container images and secure pipeline development. • Red Hat certifications (RHCE, RHCSA) or Kubernetes certifications. • Experience integrating DevSecOps within RMF-constrained environments.
