Description:

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria’s courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria’s Supreme, County, Magistrates’, Children’s, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group’.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdictions own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
Finance Services supports the core financial management and analysis functions of the courts and tribunals, ensuring Courts Group adheres to the Victorian Government’s financial management and accountability framework for the proper use of public resources.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Analysis of performance and robust month end processes to ensure the reliability of finance data.
  • Preparation of accurate, relevant, and timely month end reports for various stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation of the published budget for specific areas, especially in relation to internal and external policy driven change and undertake detailed budget analysis for reporting purposes to senior management.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a continuous budget management improvement program.
  • Provides authoritative advice on complex and sensitive budget and capitalisation related matters to internal stakeholders and jurisdiction staff.
  • Identifies critical issues which affect service delivery and pose potential risks to budget outcomes and recommend options for the resolution of budgetary constraints or pressures.
  • Delivery of business case activities including planning, guidelines, advice, assessment, financial data compilation and presentation to Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) requirements and timelines, liaison with key stakeholders
  • Co-ordination and production of financial reporting requirements for Public Accounts and Estimates Committee and other external reporting requirements as required.
  • Provide advice on key financial policy changes including changes to accounting standards and monitor the impacts to the financial position of CSV

Responsibilities:

The Senior Management Accountant is a key role in supporting the Strategic Finance Manager. The Senior Management Accountant is responsible for analysing the financial performance and position of CSV or the relevant jurisdiction, budget preparation and monitoring, and assisting with business case development and assessment.
