Job Purpose: This role is responsible for is responsible for overseeing coal sourcing, logistics, and operational efficiency within a specific area of the region. This role ensures smooth coal procurement, transportation, and compliance with regulatory requirements, while managing key stakeholders such as Coal India subsidiaries and railway authorities. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FM Area Head (Logistics & Operations) Fuel Sourcing and Quality Management: Oversee the procurement of coal from designated mines and sidings within the assigned area. Ensure coal quality meets operational standards to minimize transportation and handling costs. Monitor coal deliveries to ensure timely materialization in alignment with plant requirements. Assist in optimizing rake allocations to secure a steady supply of quality coal. Logistics and Rake Scheduling: Develop and execute efficient scheduling of rakes for coal transportation. Coordinate with railway authorities and Coal India subsidiaries to manage rake movements. Address operational challenges related to rake shortages, siding arrangements, and transit delays. Ensure smooth sidings operations, preventing supply disruptions. Budgeting, Contracts, and Financial Coordination: Assist in budget planning for fuel procurement and logistics within the area. Support the preparation and execution of agreements with Coal India subsidiaries and quality testing agencies. Ensure timely payment processing and documentation, including Letters of Credit (LC) for coal procurement. Monitor financial transactions, including proforma invoicing and bank guarantee submissions. Compliance and Regulatory Management: Support the submission of annual coal procurement certificates and other compliance reports. Assist in coal auction processes, ensuring compliance with Fuel Supply Agreements (FSA). Address regulatory discrepancies in coal grades, GST filings, and procurement documentation. Ensure all documentation and reports are prepared accurately and on time. Operational Coordination and Day-to-Day Management: Conduct daily coordination meetings with the plant operations and mine teams. Monitor coal logistics at mine sites to ensure timely and efficient delivery. Conduct site visits to assess coal handling operations and identify areas for improvement. Resolve operational challenges related to coal quality and supply chain disruptions. Reconciliation and Dispute Resolution: Manage credit and debit note reconciliations for coal quality and grade discrepancies. Support the resolution of disputes related to overloading penalties and contractual obligations. Maintain accurate documentation for all fuel procurement and logistics processes. Digitization and Automation: Implement digital tools and automation strategies to improve coal logistics and reporting. Support system enhancements for better tracking and operational efficiency. People and Team Engagement: Supervise and guide the fuel management team within the assigned area. Ensure workforce training on operational and regulatory requirements. Foster a high-performance culture and cross-skilling opportunities for team members.
