• 10+ years of professional core Java development experience
• Experience building trading systems in Equity markets
• Experience with optimizing software performance and reducing latency
• Experience managing developers

Develops strategies, researches and designs algorithms after analysing an assigned portfolio/market. Develops algorithms to build models that uncover connections and make better decisions without human intervention. Communicates strategies with other developers to help code the strategies – including evaluating algorithms and altering them as needed. Works closely with quantitative developers, technologists as well as trading desks to build out a multi-strategy algorithmic trading framework.

• Designs, implements and tests statistical models and algorithms.
• Works with business stakeholders to understand strategies and build new algorithms and customizations in support of strategies.
• Tailors the algorithmic container to meet the demand and develop to support more sophisticated algorithmic strategies.
• Backtests the trading strategy to validate whether the trading strategy is successful or not.
• Creates intuitive real-time visualizations to demonstrate algorithm operations.
• Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.
• Ensures alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion.

• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
